Network Transformation to Enhance Visibility and Performance Monitoring

Our client, a Tier 1 service provider, needed to replace over 100 IXIA NTO 5293 devices in its global networking infrastructure to improve performance monitoring, packet flow switching, visibility, and scalability. This strategic network transformation resulted from the need to meet its customers’ growing service assurance demands across an increasingly dynamic networking landscape. As a result of the transformation project’s immense size and complexity, the service provider collaborated with BlueAlly to replace these IXIA NTO 5293 devices with NetScout PFS 5010 appliances, enabling our client to meet its customers’ business needs and streamline global network operations.

The Client

Our client is a Tier 1 service provider specializing in communication technology solutions for global businesses and consumers. The company generated over $100 billion in revenue in 2023.

The Problem

As the technology ecosystem evolved, our client’s previous network monitoring solution struggled to keep pace with the increasing complexity of data traffic across its expansive infrastructure footprint. The service provider also lacked end-to-end visibility through advanced analytics, hindering data-driven insights and optimized operations. These challenges necessitated a robust, scalable network monitoring solution that could simplify operations and help our client achieve a proactive network management strategy suited to its customers’ heightened service needs and data complexity.

The BlueAlly Solution

Our expert engineering teams met with the service provider’s stakeholders to choose a solution suited to its customers’ service assurance demands. After a thorough evaluation, our client chose NetScout PFS 5010 appliances due to their advanced packet flow switching capabilities, superior scalability, and comprehensive analytics. BlueAlly drove a seamless transition to NetScout while addressing the limitations of the service provider’s previous infrastructure. Our solution empowered our client with enhanced performance monitoring capabilities that optimized service delivery and operations for its global customers.

The Results

BlueAlly’s expert teams collaborated with NetScout’s engineers to plan and execute the service provider’s massive transformation project over 9 months. We streamlined the migration process by pre-staging and meticulously configuring all NetScout appliances based on our client’s unique networking requirements. Our team then completed all engineering, furnishing, and installation (EF&I) activities onsite and performed the migration during a maintenance window to ensure minimal disruption to our client’s ongoing business operations.

This powerful solution provided our client with advanced analytics that improved customer experiences, including traffic analysis, performance monitoring, packet loss metrics, and more. These analytics enabled the service provider to manage the massive amounts of complex data flowing through its global network while optimizing resource allocation to ensure uninterrupted, real-time service functionality. Through BlueAlly’s tailored approach, we carefully maintained the security and integrity of our client’s network while integrating a business-critical networking solution that ensured our client could scale to its customers’ evolving connectivity demands.
